Eligibility: who can apply
- Students enrolled in government and private schools, colleges and universities in Punjab. More than 33,000 institutions are covered.
- Applicants must hold a valid driving licence. See below: you can now get one in a single day.
In the 2024 phase, applicants had to be at least 18 and enrolled in a degree college or university. The 2026 announcements extend the scheme to school students, but every applicant still needs a driving licence. Check the eligibility section on the portal before you apply.
Government employees and teachers are expected to be included in a later phase. That phase is not open yet.
How to apply online on bikes.punjab.gov.pk
- Get your driving licence first, or at least start the process. Traffic police are issuing licences on the same day for e-bike applicants.
- Open bikes.punjab.gov.pk. Type the address yourself.
- Register and fill in the application form. Keep these ready: your CNIC or B-Form, a mobile number, your institution's details and your driving licence.
- Submit before 4 October 2026, and keep a screenshot of your application.
More than 432,000 students registered in the first two days, far more than the 100,000 bikes available. If applications exceed the quota, selection has previously been done by e-balloting.
Driving licence
A valid driving licence is mandatory. To help applicants, the Punjab Traffic Police announced on 9 September 2026 that students applying for the e-bike scheme can get a learner's licence and a regular licence on the same day. They do not have to wait the usual 42 days in between. Visit your nearest traffic police licensing centre.
Beware of fake e-bike portals
Fake portals such as e-bikescheme.pk have been flagged, and several other lookalikes exist. The only official address is bikes.punjab.gov.pk, ending in .punjab.gov.pk. There is no registration fee, and no down payment in the 2026 phase.
Many private websites rank for "CM Punjab Electric Bike Scheme 2026". Some are information sites, some are scams, and several still quote the old 2024 terms (a Rs 70,000 subsidy, 24-month plans, petrol bikes, a teachers' quota). The figures on this page come from the official 2026 announcement. When in doubt, check them on bikes.punjab.gov.pk. Anyone asking for money to "confirm your bike" is a fraudster.
How the 2024 phase worked
The first phase, in 2024, was for university and college students aged 18 and over. It offered interest-free loans through the Bank of Punjab, with the student paying a down payment. It was later expanded to 27,000 bikes. The 2026 phase replaces those terms: no down payment, and a lower monthly instalment.
