The CM Livestock Asset Transfer to Rural Women scheme, ATTRW for short, gives a free cow or buffalo heifer (a young female animal) to widowed and divorced women in rural South Punjab, so they can earn a living from milk and, later, calves. It is run by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, and the portal was built by PITB.

The current round opened in July 2026. You apply online at attrw.punjab.gov.pk, or in person at a CM Facilitation Desk in your nearest veterinary hospital or animal health centre. Winners are picked by computerised balloting.

Who can apply

For the 2026 round, the Punjab government set these conditions:

  • You are a widow or a divorced woman.
  • Your marital status is verified by the Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA).
  • You are 55 years old or younger.
  • You live in a rural area of one of the 13 districts listed below.
  • You have not received livestock under any government scheme in the past five years.

The scheme is meant for women who know how to look after animals but cannot afford to buy them. In the 2024 round, applicants also needed a poverty score (PMT) of 32 or below and a mobile SIM in their own name. The 2026 announcements do not repeat the PMT condition, but keep your CNIC and your own mobile number ready anyway.

The July 2026 round covers these 13 districts:

Taunsa and Bahawalnagar are new this round. The earlier rounds covered 12 districts. The scheme is not open in central or northern Punjab, whatever some websites claim.

How to apply on attrw.punjab.gov.pk

Online

  1. Type attrw.punjab.gov.pk into your browser yourself. The address ends in .punjab.gov.pk. Do not use links from WhatsApp messages or lookalike sites.
  2. Register with your CNIC number, your name, your marital status (widow or divorced), your district and village, and your own mobile number.
  3. Submit the form and note down or screenshot any application or tracking number it shows.

Searches like "https//attrw.punjab.gov.pk", "attrw.punjab.gov.pak" or "attrw.punjab.govt.pk" are all trying to reach the same portal. The correct address is exactly attrw.punjab.gov.pk.

In person

If you do not have a smartphone or internet, go to the CM Facilitation Desk at your nearest government veterinary hospital or animal health centre with your original CNIC. Staff there will register you. This service is free.

Documents to keep ready

  • Your CNIC. It must be valid.
  • A mobile number registered in your own name
  • Proof of widowhood or divorce: the husband's death certificate, or a divorce certificate or effectiveness certificate from the Union Council. The PSPA verifies your marital status.

Check status by CNIC and login

People search a lot for "attrw punjab gov pk check status by CNIC", but no official source we could find describes a separate CNIC status-check page or SMS service for this scheme.

  • If you applied online, go back to attrw.punjab.gov.pk and sign in with the details you registered with. Your application's progress is managed there. The portal could not be reached when we checked on 24 September 2026, so we cannot confirm exactly what its status screen shows.
  • If you applied at a desk, or cannot log in, ask at the same CM Facilitation Desk or veterinary hospital. They can look up your CNIC.
  • Balloting results: in earlier rounds, winners were chosen at a public e-balloting and the results were announced. Successful women are contacted for verification and delivery.

Never pay anyone who offers to "check your status" or to "get your name in the ballot".

Last date

No closing date for the 2026 round has been officially announced as of 24 September 2026. In 2024 the registration window was short. It opened in late October and closed on 10 November 2024. Do not wait: if you are eligible, apply now, and check with your local veterinary hospital whether registration is still open.

What happens after you apply

  1. Scrutiny: your details are checked, and your marital status is verified by PSPA.
  2. Physical verification: officials may visit to confirm you live in the village and can keep an animal.
  3. E-balloting: eligible applicants go into a computerised ballot, with a quota for each district.
  4. Delivery: winners receive their heifer. In the 2025 round, winners also got a Bank of Punjab account, feed money for two months, and vaccination and insemination support.

How big is the scheme?

  • The scheme launched in November 2024 with about Rs 2 billion to give animals to about 11,000 women.
  • The first ballot, in February 2025, drew more than 110,000 applications. A second-phase ballot was held on 22 January 2026 for 4,385 women across 12 districts.
  • By April 2026, 9,255 animals had been distributed, and the Chief Minister announced the quota would be doubled.
  • The July 2026 round extended the scheme to 13 districts.

With many more applicants than animals, not every eligible woman wins in a given round. If you were not selected, you can apply again when a new round opens, provided you still meet the conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Is there any fee to apply for ATTRW?

No. Registration is free and the animal is given free of cost. Anyone asking for money is not from the government.

Can a married woman or a woman from Lahore apply?

No. The scheme is only for widowed or divorced women living in rural areas of the 13 South Punjab districts.

Is there an ATTRW app?

A PITB mobile app was used in earlier rounds. In 2026 the government has pointed applicants to the website, attrw.punjab.gov.pk, and to the facilitation desks.

I applied in 2024 or 2025 and was not selected. Should I apply again?

Yes, if registration is open and you still meet the conditions. You cannot apply if you have received livestock from a government scheme in the past five years.
