Interest-free loan to build a house on your plot

Apni Chhat Apna Ghar (ACAG) is the Punjab government's interest-free loan to build a house on a plot you already own. It lends up to Rs 1.5 million (Rs 15 lakh), repaid over nine years with instalments of no more than Rs 14,000 a month. It is run by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), and you apply at acag.punjab.gov.pk.

It launched in August 2024. By 10 September 2026, about Rs 260 billion had been lent to more than 200,000 families, and the programme has been selected for a UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour.

What you get

This is a loan, not a grant. You repay the full amount, without interest. Claims online of a "60% subsidy" are not true. The only discount is the early repayment rebate, explained below.

Who can apply

According to the portal and the programme's announcements:

• You are a permanent resident of Punjab.
• You do not own a house.
• You own a plot: 1 to 5 marla in an urban area, or up to 10 marla in a rural area.
• You have a valid CNIC and your property documents.

How to apply on acag.punjab.gov.pk

1. 1Go to acag.punjab.gov.pk. Type the address yourself. It ends in .punjab.gov.pk.
2. 2Click Register and create your account.
3. 3Fill in the application, including your plot details. Keep your CNIC and your property documents ready.
4. 4Submit, and note your Application ID.

If you cannot apply online, the programme also accepts applications through Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner offices and through PHATA.

Check your application status

1. 1Go to acag.punjab.gov.pk and click Login.
2. 2Sign in with the account you registered.
3. 3Open "Application Status". It shows your Application ID, your current status, and the lending partner (MFI) assigned to you.

Early repayment rebate

If you repay your loan early, you get a rebate on the remaining principal:

• 20% off if you pay it off in years 1 to 3
• 10% off if you pay it off in years 4 to 6

Yes. You repay only the amount you borrowed, over nine years.

Can I apply if I don't own a plot?
