Sehat Card Plus KPK gives every family in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa free hospital treatment worth up to Rs 1 million (Rs 10 lakh) a year. It pays for admission, operations and treatment at a large panel of government and private hospitals, with no bill at the hospital. The official website says it covers more than 10.6 million families.

You do not need to apply. Every family registered with NADRA, with a permanent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa address on their CNIC, is covered automatically. You only need to check that your name is on the system, and take your CNIC to the hospital.

The limit is shared by the whole family, and renews every year on 1 July. Once it is used up, you pay for further treatment yourself until the new year starts.

Who is covered

  • All families of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa registered with NADRA and holding CNICs. There is no income test and no age limit.
  • Your CNIC must show a permanent address in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If it does not, you cannot use the card.
  • Each family member is registered separately through NADRA's family record. Children under 18 are covered through their Form B.
  • If a family member is missing, or the relationship is wrong, the head of the family must correct it at a NADRA office.

How to check eligibility

  1. Type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes.
  2. Send it by SMS to 9780. This is the number given on the official Sehat Card Plus website.
  3. The reply tells you if your family is covered and gives your card details.
  4. If you are not covered, or a family member is missing, visit NADRA to update your family record. Then check again.

You can also check your remaining balance, find nearby hospitals and see your treatment history in the Sehat Card Plus mobile app, or call the free helpline 0800-89898.

How to use it at hospital

  1. Go to an empanelled hospital. Check the list on sehatsahulat.com.pk, in the app, or on 0800-89898.
  2. Go to the Sehat Card counter with the patient's CNIC, or Form B for a child.
  3. If you are admitted, treatment is free as long as your family still has balance left.
  4. If you have lost your CNIC, the programme says a passport, driving licence or other valid ID can be used, and emergency treatment will not be refused.

Treatment outside KP: the programme's hospital panel is spread across Pakistan, including Punjab, Islamabad and Karachi. You must go to a hospital on the Sehat Card panel. Treatment at a hospital that is not empanelled is not covered.

What is covered and what is not

Covered (when you are admitted to hospital): emergencies and accidents, heart and vascular disease, all types of cancer, kidney disease including dialysis and kidney transplant, hepatitis B and C, diabetes, orthopaedics, gynaecology and maternity care, children's treatment, and liver and bone marrow transplants.

Not covered, according to the official excluded treatments list:

  • OPD (outpatient) visits. Seeing a doctor without being admitted is not covered.
  • Routine check-ups, screening and vaccinations.
  • Glasses, hearing aids and LASIK eye surgery.
  • Cosmetic surgery, hair transplants and dental work, except dental treatment after an accident.
  • Fertility and infertility treatment.
  • Treatment at a hospital that is not on the panel.
  • Admissions that are not medically justified.

OPD coverage is coming, but not yet for everyone. The Jwandun Card gives free outpatient care to poorer families (PMT score 26 or below) in Mardan since July 2025, with Malakand, Kohat and Chitral planned. On 9 July 2026, the KP cabinet approved a Health Policy that will extend Sehat Card Plus to OPD services. No start date has been announced.

Changes in 2026

  • Budget: the KP budget for 2026-27, presented on 19 June 2026, gives the health card programme Rs 50 billion.
  • Top-up for government employees: on 10 September 2026 the KP government proposed an extra "top-up" package for government employees, along with more cover for expensive treatments. No details or start date have been announced.
  • Death compensation: the KP cabinet approved paying Rs 1 million to the family of a head of household who dies in hospital during Sehat Card treatment (Rs 500,000 if aged 60 or over). As of December 2025, Dawn reported that this was still awaiting final notification. We have not confirmed that it is being paid.

Beware of fake websites and agents

  • The official website is sehatsahulat.com.pk. Many blogs copy its name and logo.
  • There is no registration fee and no card fee. You do not need a physical card. Your CNIC is enough.
  • Nobody can "activate" or "increase" your Sehat Card limit for money.
  • Report any hospital or agent asking for money for covered treatment on 0800-89898, by email to info@sehatsahulat.com.pk, or in the app. The programme says complainants' names are kept confidential.
