KP Disaster Compensation: Flood, Landslide and Calamity Claims

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa compensates people affected by floods, landslides and other calamities at fixed rates set by the PDMA Natural Calamity and Other Incidents Compensation Regulations, 2025, notified on 4 December 2025. These replaced the 2019 regulations.

This is not a scheme you sign up for. A claim is triggered by an incident, and the clock starts the day it happens.

The 30-day deadline

The regulations state that an application must be submitted not more than 30 days from the date of the incident. Each later stage of processing is 5 working days. Only a Deputy Commissioner's written certification can extend the timeline, and never beyond 120 days.

If you have been affected, file first and gather paperwork alongside — do not wait until every document is in hand.

Compensation rates

• Loss of life — Rs 1,000,000
• Major injury — Rs 300,000
• Minor injury — Rs 50,000
• House fully damaged, two rooms or more — Rs 200,000
• House fully damaged, one room plus fallen boundary wall — Rs 100,000
• House fully damaged, one room only — Rs 80,000
• Fallen boundary wall only — Rs 50,000
• Large animal (cow, buffalo, horse, donkey) — Rs 60,000
• Small animal (goat, sheep) — Rs 8,000
• Crops — up to Rs 10,000 per acre, capped at Rs 100,000 per family
• Orchards — up to Rs 700 per tree, capped at Rs 80,000 per family

Where a damaged house was rented, compensation is split 50:50 between the landlord and the tenant.

Who can claim

• Anyone affected anywhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Merged Districts.
• You may file in the district where the incident happened, or in your own district of origin — whichever is easier for you.

How to file a claim

• Submit through the official compensation portal or the DASTAK mobile app.
• A district Claim Assessment Committee, chaired by the Assistant Commissioner of your subdivision, verifies the loss.
• Verification is done in person at the site, with GPS-tagged photographs taken by the committee.
• Approved payments are transferred directly to your bank account.

Be careful here: the claim goes through the DASTAK *app*. The website at dastak.kp.gov.pk is the KP arms-licensing portal and will not help you.

Documents you need

For loss of life

• CNIC, Form-B or birth certificate of the deceased
• CNIC of the next of kin, nominated by the legal heirs on judicial stamp paper
• Death certificate signed by a Medical Superintendent, a Village Council or Neighbourhood Secretary, revenue field staff, or a Rescue incident report
• Succession certificate

For injury

• CNIC or Form-B of the injured person
• Original medical certificate from the District Medical Board stating whether the injury is major or minor

For a damaged house

• CNIC or Form-B of the owner
• Certified ownership document — sale deed, allotment letter, fard or mutation
• GPS-tagged photograph taken by the Assessment Committee

For livestock, crops and orchards

• Attested CNIC or Form-B
• Report from the Halqa Patwari, or the Livestock or Agriculture Department, stating the number of animals or acres
• Photographic evidence
• Certified ownership documents for land

Two warnings

Filing a false claim is punishable under Section 34 of the National Disaster Management Act 2010.

Compensation figures circulating online for the August 2025 Buner and Swat disaster are not the rates now in force, and the figures often quoted for Sindh are from the 2022 floods. The rates on this page are the ones in the 2025 Regulations.
