Benazir Nashonuma gives nutrition and cash support to pregnant and breastfeeding women in BISP Benazir Kafaalat households, and to their children until their second birthday. BISP says the programme has reached more than 4.6 million mothers and children. It operates through facilitation centres linked to health services across Pakistan, but you should confirm that your local centre is enrolling before travelling.
Who is eligible?
The mother must be an active Kafaalat beneficiary, aged 18 to 59, and pregnant or breastfeeding. A child of a Kafaalat beneficiary can receive support while under two. The household must live in an area where Nashonuma operates. This is a separate enrolment from Kafaalat: receiving Kafaalat does not automatically register a mother or child for Nashonuma. If you are unsure about Kafaalat status, ask BISP through its official helpline or tehsil office.
How much does Nashonuma pay?
BISP lists Rs 3,500 per quarter for a pregnant woman, Rs 3,500 for a boy under two, and Rs 4,000 for a girl under two. The programme also supplies specialised nutritious food and advice on diet, hygiene and child health. These are conditional payments, so the actual amount depends on enrolment and completing required health visits. Do not treat the programme’s maximum lifetime figure as a guaranteed payment to every family.
How to register
Visit a Nashonuma Facilitation Centre at a participating health facility. Take the beneficiary’s valid CNIC. For pregnancy, staff require screening at a registered health facility. For a child, take a NADRA family registration certificate and the child’s EPI immunisation card. Ask staff to check the household record, complete enrolment and explain the next visit. Keep documents and contact details current.
How to keep receiving support
Attend antenatal and postnatal check-ups, counselling and growth-monitoring visits. Give the child routine vaccinations and use the nutritious food as health staff advise. A child leaves the programme after turning two. If a payment is missing, ask the centre to check compliance and your record; for BISP complaints call 0800-26477. Registration is free. Do not pay an agent or share a verification code.
