Health support for mothers in 13 Punjab districts

Aaghosh Punjab helps pregnant women and mothers of children under two use essential health services. It is run by the Punjab Social Protection Authority through the Punjab Human Capital Investment Project. Eligible women can receive up to Rs 38,000, paid in stages when health milestones are recorded. The total is a maximum, not a one-time grant or a guaranteed payment for every applicant.

Who can register?

You need a valid CNIC and must belong to one of these 13 districts: Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Khushab, Layyah, Bahawalnagar or Lodhran. A pregnant woman can enrol at any stage of pregnancy. A mother with a child under two can ask the facility about enrolment and the milestones still available. Aaghosh is a Punjab programme, separate from BISP; a BISP card is not needed.

Payments and health visits

The official programme page lists Rs 2,000 for pregnancy registration, Rs 3,000 after each of four scheduled antenatal visits, Rs 10,000 for a safe delivery at a government facility, and further payments for a newborn check-up, measles vaccinations and birth registration. These milestones add up to up to Rs 38,000. Ask the health worker for your own visit schedule, because missing or late visits can affect payments. Registration and approval are verified before money is released.

How to register and check payment

Go to a participating Basic Health Unit, Rural Health Centre, Tehsil or District Headquarters hospital, or Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic. Take your original CNIC and provide a mobile number you can access. A Lady Health Visitor records your information in the health system. Registration is free. After enrolment, enter your CNIC and registered mobile number at payment.pspa.gop.pk to check registration and balance. The programme also sends payment messages to the registered number.

The official FAQ says the registered woman withdraws money at a JazzCash agent using her original CNIC and biometric verification. If a payment is delayed, the portal or 1221 can tell you its status. Report anyone demanding an enrolment fee to 1221.
