Report garbage and dirty streets

Suthra Punjab ("Clean Punjab", with the slogan *Maryam Nawaz ka Punjab, Suthra Punjab*) is the Punjab government's province-wide garbage collection and sanitation programme. It covers cities and villages alike. It began in late 2024, and the government describes it as Pakistan's largest solid-waste management initiative.

For most people, the one thing to know is the helpline: call 1139 to report garbage that has not been collected, a dirty street or a blocked drain.

What Suthra Punjab does

• Door-to-door waste collection from homes
• Street sweeping, and washing of main roads, which the Chief Minister ordered done by 5am in August 2026
• Clearing open garbage heaps and desilting drains
• GPS-tracked vehicles, geo-tagged photos and attendance checks for workers

The Local Government and Community Development Department runs it through district waste-management companies and private contractors in each tehsil. It employs about 150,000 workers and operates hundreds of new vehicles.

How to complain: helpline 1139

When you call, give the exact location: street, mohalla, union council and a landmark. Say how many days the garbage has been lying there. Note the complaint number you are given.

During Eid-ul-Adha 2026, more than 41,000 citizens contacted Suthra Punjab through the 1139 helpline and the app.

Workers' pay and benefits

• In August 2026 the Chief Minister ordered that workers be paid by the 5th of every month, with legal action against contractors who pay late.
• Suthra Punjab workers received a Rs 10,000 Eid reward in 2026 (184,000 workers).
• Workers were included in the [Ramzan Nigehban Card](/schemes/ramzan-nigehban-card) and the [CM Punjab Ration Card](/schemes/cm-punjab-ration-card).

Suthra Punjab jobs

There is no central online application for Suthra Punjab jobs. Workers are hired by the district waste-management companies and the contractors in each tehsil. Genuine vacancies are advertised by these companies, the Local Government department, or in newspapers.

Be careful with "Suthra Punjab jobs apply online" websites, and with WhatsApp numbers that ask for a fee or your CNIC. We could not link any of them to the government. Websites using the name "Suthra Punjab" on a .com or .com.pk address are not verified government sites.
